Aruba Mobile Edge System Network managers today are faced with three major IT trends that they must address: mobility, security, and convergence. All three trends intersect at the edge of the network — the point where users connect to enterprise services. The edge of the enterprise network today, built on the past decade of networking technology, is a fixed edge. It was designed for a time when users and devices were not mobile. Aruba's Mobile Edge System enables a new type of edge for the enterprise network — the mobile edge. The mobile edge allows users and devices to connect over the air and across any network, to securely gain access to enterprise resources. The mobile edge is an evolutionary new architecture that delivers mobility, security and convergence for today’s networks and builds on a vision where the enterprise network will ultimately have far fewer ports than today. Aruba's Mobile Edge System consists of three components: - Mobility controllers which are centralized service delivery platforms for the Mobile Edge
- Controlled access points (APs) which tunnel wired & wireless user traffic to mobility controllers over the LAN, WAN and the Internet
- Aruba software provides all the intelligence for the Mobile Edge
Mobility Controllers Aruba's mobility controllers centralize the security and management of wireless environments. These systems are purpose-built for enterprises that require a scalable and secure wireless network to deliver high performance and value-added wireless services. Each system integrates sophisticated features, such as policy enforcement, firewall, VPN server, intrusion protection and RF management, typically found in point products All Aruba mobility controllers uniquely integrate an identity-based policy enforcement firewall and are built on programmable hardware processing architecture that runs the ArubaOS mobility software suite. Aruba's product family includes the industry's most complete line of modular and stackable mobility controller systems, supporting everything from branch offices to regional headquarters and campus environments. Access Points
Aruba 802.11a/b/g access points operate exclusively with Aruba mobility controllers. Aruba APs simultaneously provide network access and RF monitoring services. These multifunction devices eliminate the need for a separate RF sensor network to troubleshoot and protect the wireless environment. Aruba mobility controllers automatically manage the operation of each AP, including power/transmit levels and channel assignments. Network traffic is tunneled from Aruba APs to mobility controllers using standards-based GRE or IPsec tunnels. Aruba offers both indoor and outdoor APs including the single radio Aruba 60, the dual-radio Aruba 70, and the outdoor Aruba 80. ArubaOS Mobility Software
ArubaOS is a robust and highly sophisticated suite of mobility applications that provides unprecedented control over the entire wireless and mobile user environment. ArubaOS provides a base feature set that includes sophisticated authentication and encryption, seamless mobility with fast roaming, RF management, centralized configuration, RF analysis tools and much more. Aruba Mobility Management System The Aruba Mobility Management System provides a comprehensive suite of applications for planning, monitoring, fault management, reporting, RF coverage and location visualization for the Mobile Edge of enterprise networks.
